Joanna Volkoff, BS, COTA/L, LMT, CLT

Joanna is the owner and licensed massage therapist at Summit Springs Therapies, LLC. She has been practicing massage and bodywork since 2001. Having studied a wide range of modalities from medical and sports massage to eastern techniques, she tailors treatments to meet your individual needs. She works with balancing structural alignment, decreasing myofascial pain, and improving range of motion to decrease symptoms and improve your well being and function. She strives to find the root cause of symptoms and treats them with a variety of manual techniques to help get your body back in balance. 

 

She is skilled at working with orthopedic issues, stress related symptoms, repetitive strain symptoms and various muscle related pains. She is experienced with shoulder and rotator cuff issues, neck and head pain (headaches), low back pain, sciatica, carpel tunnel symptoms, TMJD, scoliosis, and forward head syndrome. She has a passion for educating her clients in what is helpful to keep their body working well. She also has studied therapeutic exercises and yoga for years and may advise in therapeutic stretches when needed to aid in muscular balance. In addition, she is skilled in the medical field, medical terminology and in communicating with various health care providers and other professionals to work and co-treat medical conditions. Joanna is willing to work with your referring physician to have massage be a part of your therapeutic healing process and wellness care.

In addition to her bodywork education, Joanna holds a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University. She has a passion for neuroscience and neuromuscular recovery and aiding clients in the healing process. In 2014, she became a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) and worked in outpatient clinics with Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists treating patients recovering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) and strokes. Her practiced therapies and skills focused on improving clients independence in activities of daily living, cognitive rehabilitation, fine motor skill improvements, vision therapy, relaxation technique skill building, pain & stress management and life skills education. She is skilled and familiar with working with clients who are healing from concussion, brain injury and stroke recovery and experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, pain, vision and sensory issues, fatigue, balance, verstibular and mobility challenges. She enjoys co-treating with other providers and specialists to increase client treatment outcomes.

In 2018, Joanna completed the 135 hour training course and became certified by Klose Training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapy and is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. She administers lymphatic massage to help ease the symptoms of Lymphedema and other conditions which increase swelling and inflammation in the body. She uses techniques to help the body's lymphatic system eliminate excess fluid as needed.

In her spare time, Joanna spends time hiking in the beautiful PNW, skiing, gardening, experimenting with new cooking recipes, biking, practicing yoga, kayaking and enjoying various snow sports. She loves exploring, learning, travel and spending time with her family and friends.
